So I'm not going to be having a ton of time for blog stuff. Our schedule keeps us pretty busy and in our free time we will be bonding and writing book reports. Yippee. Let's see... on Monday Sean talked about YWAM and lots of random things, especially God's will being good, pleasing, and perfect. Then we had orientation and after dinner we had "dessert night" meaning we had cake and played games. Then Tuesday, Brett Curtis, who is in charge of YWAM San Diego/Baja came and talked to us about intercession. These people have incredible faith and I hope to be like them one day. Then we spent some time praying about where we should go in Colombia. We split into two groups and within our group spent like 20 minutes praying on our own and trying to listen to God. When my group came together we talked about what we saw/heard. Sjoerd saw a little boy running towards him. Jaime had the phrase "go where it is green". The others each had something about either a beach, trees, or a rainforest type thing. We then combined the two groups and it turned out that the other group had received stuff about a beach and a rainforest too. And Julie had seen a little boy holding out his hand to her and crying. Anyways... that was us trying to put into practice what we learned about intercession. Then we shared our testimonies/stories and how we ended up here. There were some pretty crazy backgrounds. Then last night we had a Wal-Mart run.
Today is Julie's birthday so when we were at Walmart last night, Jessie, Marleen, and I prepared. We bought confetti, a banner, balloons, a cake, ice cream, cookies, and pop! So when we got back to the room, Ruth and I ran to the kitchen to get plates, cups, bowls, and all that. Then when we came in, Jessie got out the cake and we started singing happy birthday. Julie was so surprised and excited! Then Jessie made her stick her face in the cake and take the first bite. She claims its Mexican tradition. So we ate a bunch of cake, ice cream, and cookies last night. It was delicious! Then, once Julie went to bed, we blew up the balloons. We opened the banner that said "Feliz Cumple" on the outside of the package (Happy Birthday), but apparently it was false advertisement because when we oppened it it said "Bienvenidos" (Welcome) on it... So we considered convincing her that bienvenidos meant happy birthday, but we thought she might walk around saying that all day so we decided not to. We just told her "Bienvenidos al ano diecinueve" (Welcome to the nineteenth year)... So we woke her up by throwing balloons at her and singing happy birthday. All day Jessie and I have been randomly throwing confetti at her. It's very fun! Now we're surprising her and going out to dinner for her bday. Oh yeah and we had cake after lunch to celebrate again. So I've had cake like three or four times already! I love it here! OK I have to go get ready for dinner. Adios!
Que Dios les bendiga.
